Short Ribs Braised in Port Wine

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  2. Season ribs with salt and pepper.
  3. Heat oil in skillet over medium high heat.
  4. When oil is hot, brown ribs, 3-4 minutes on each side.
  5. Transfer ribs to a Dutch oven.
  6. Saute mushrooms in the skillet for 2 minutes then add sliced onion and stir for 2 minutes more.
  7. With a slotted spoon, transfer mushroom and onion mixture into the Dutch oven.
  8. Add port and water then cover with aluminum foil.
  9. Cook in the oven for 3 hours, turning the ribs over halfway through cooking.
  10. Serve with side dish.
