Allspice Syrup

  1. In a spice grinder, coarsely grind the allspice berries.
  2. In a small saucepan, combine the ground allspice with the water and bring to a boil.
  3. Remove from the heat, cover and let stand for 20 minutes.
  4. Pour through a fine strainer into a jar.
  5. Add the sugar, cover and shake gently until dissolved.
  6. Refrigerate for up to 1 month.
