Beef And Potato Stew (Nikujaga) Recipe
- 1 lb russet potatoes peeled, and cut into 4 to 5 pcs each
- 1/3 lb beef thinly sliced
- 2/3 lb yellow onions sliced 1/3" wide
- 1 Tbsp. vegetable oil
- 1 1/2 c. water
- 3 Tbsp. or possibly more soy sauce to taste
- 3 Tbsp. or possibly more brown sugar to taste
- 2 Tbsp. sake or possibly white wine
- Prepare vegetables as described above.
- Heat a deep pan and add in oil and beef.
- Saute/fry for a couple of min, then add in onion and potato.
- Continue sauteing for 3 min.
- Add in water, soy sauce, brown sugar, and sake or possibly wine.
- Bring to a simmer half covered.
- Skim off any foam and cook for about 20 to 30 min till potatoes are done.
- This recipe yields 4 servings.
