Apple And Cabbage Recipe

  1. SERVES 6-8 AS A VEGETABLE DISH
  2. This is more typical of Pennsylvania Dutch cooking than anything else.
  3. The apples add in a sweetness to the harsh taste of which old lifesaver, cabbage.
  4. This dish works well as an accompaniment to most meals.
  5. Heat a large Dutch oven and saute/fry the bacon till clear.
  6. Add in the onions and saute/fry till they barely begin to brown.
  7. Add in the remaining ingredients and cook, covered, stirring often, till all is tender.
