Shrimp & Oyster Gumbo Recipe
- 1 lg. onion, minced
- 1 sweet red pepper, cut up
- 1/2 c. butter
- 1/3 c. all purpose flour
- 6 c. water
- 1 (19 ounce.) can tomatoes
- 2 teaspoon gumbo file
- 1 box frzn okra
- 1 pound uncooked shrimp, peeled & cleaned
- 12 shucked oysters with liquid
- Salt & pepper
- Warm pepper sauce
- Warm cooked rice
- Saute/fry onion and pepper in the butter for 2 to 3 min.
- Add in flour and brown lightly.
- Add in water, tomatoes and file.
- Cover and simmer for 30 min.
- Add in okra, shrimp and oysters.
- Simmer for 10 to 15 min.
- Season with salt and pepper and warm pepper sauce to taste.
- Serve with rice in a bowl with warm sauce on the side.
