Pot Liquor Green Beans
- 2 to 3 pounds fresh green beans, washed and trimmed
- 1 hamhock
- 1/2 white onion, chopped
- 1 tbsp garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp pepper
- 1 tbsp salt
- 1 1/2 tbsp bacon grease
- In a large stock pot add all ingredients and add enough water to barely cover green beans.
- Bring to a boil and reduce heat to a low simmer.
- Cover loosely with a lid and allow to simmer for at least 2 hours stirring occasionally.
- Serve as a side to any meal with bread to soak up the juices or pot liquor.
