Chewy Yogurt Bagels

  1. Mix the flour and dry yeast in a bowl.
  2. Add salt and mix some more.
  3. Now add the yogurt and knead with a kneader for 10 to 20 minutes.
  4. You could also knead manually for 20 minutes.
  5. When done, divide into 8 or 9 portions and roll up into a bowl.
  6. Cover with cloth and let rest for 10 minutes.
  7. Please refer to the photo - make the dough long and thin by following the example from top down.
  8. To finish, pinch and secure the seam well.
  9. Roll the dough as if making a snake with clay.
  10. Press down one end to flatten.
  11. Fold in the other end to make a ring.
  12. Add sugar into boiling water.
  13. Boil each side of the bagels for 30 seconds.
  14. Don't let the water boil too much.
  15. When done, transfer onto a baking tray lined with parchment paper.
  16. Let rise for 10 to 20 minutes.
  17. Preheat the oven to 230C.
  18. Bake for 15 minutes to finish.
