Almond Blondies

  1. Heat oven to 350 degrees F.
  2. Line 8-inch square pan with foil, with ends of foil extending over sides.
  3. Beat 1/2 cup butter and brown sugar in medium bowl with electric mixer until well blended.
  4. Add egg and vanilla.
  5. Add flour and baking powder; stir until blended.
  6. Stir in butterscotch chips.
  7. Pour into pan and spread evenly.
  8. Bake 20 to 25 min.
  9. or until a toothpick inserted in centre comes out clean.
  10. Meanwhile, combine remaining butter and granulated sugar in skillet on medium heat until butter is melted.
  11. Add almonds, stirring until coated with mixture; cook 5 min until almonds start to brown.
  12. Pour over squares; cool.
  13. Remove from pan by lifting out foil.
  14. Cut into squares.
  15. Melt chocolate according to package directions.
  16. Coat each square in chocolate by dipping the square, excluding the top, into the melted chocolate.
  17. Place on cooling rack to let chocolate harden before serving.
