Pasta with Bolognese Sauce
- 2 pounds ground beef
- 3 tablespoons butter or half butter and half olive oil
- 1 each onions chopped
- 1 medium green bell peppers chopped
- 2 each celery chopped
- 28 ounces italian plum (roma) tomatoes
- 1 each bay leaves
- 3 tablespoons oregano
- 2 tablespoons basil
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 6 ounces tomato paste
- Brown ground beef in a heavy skillet over medium heat.
- Drain and set aside.
- Melt butter in a large saucepan over medium heat.
- Add onion, green pepper, and celery.
- Saute about 5 minutes.
- Stir in sausage, beef, tomatoes, bay leaf, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper.
- Simmer, covered, at least 40 minutes.
- Stir in tomato paste; simmer, covered, 15 minutes.
- Serve over pasta with freshly grated Parmesan cheese.
