Grammas Homemade Mac n Cheese
- 2 cups Elbow Noodles
- 1/4 cups Butter
- 1 whole Medium Onion, Chopped
- 2 cups Warm Milk
- 1/4 cups Flour
- 3 cups Extra Old Cheddar Cheese
- 1/4 cups Parmesan Cheese
- Salt And Pepper, to taste
- In a large pot, boil elbow noodles until they are just about fully cooked.
- Remove from heat, drain and return to pot.
- Set aside.
- In a saucepan over medium heat, melt butter.
- Add onion and cook until onion is transparent, approximately 4 minutes.
- Warm milk in microwave, just enough to take the chill off.
- Add milk to saucepan, whisk in flour, and heat until mixture thickens.
- Add cheddar and Parmesan cheeses.
- Stir until cheeses have fully melted.
- Add salt and pepper to taste.
- Add cheese mixture to partially cooked noddles and combine fully.
- Pour mac n cheese into an oven-safe baking dish and bake at 350 degrees F for 15-20 minutes, or until noodles are fully cooked.
- Leave the lid off the dish to crisp the top if you like!
- Alternatively, you can fully cook the noodles and just add the cheese sauce and enjoy right away!
