Lion Shaped Wiener Sausage (Decorative Bento Item)
- 1 Wiener sausage
- 1 Quail egg
- 1 Nori seaweed
- 1 Mentsuyu
- 1 dash Uncooked spaghetti noodle
- Marinate the boiled quail egg in mentsuyu.
- If you're using 2x concentrate marinate it for 30 to 40 minutes.
- Turn it over occasionally to marinate it evenly.
- When the egg is nicely marinated, take it out and pat off any excess moisture with paper towels.
- Cut the wiener sausage in half lengthwise.
- Make small cut in the outer curved side (to about the center of the sausage).
- If the cuts are too deep the sausage will rip, so be careful!
- Boil the sausage for 1-2 minutes.
- Once it's boiled it will curl up.
- Secure the ends together with a small piece of pasta.
- (If you don't want to use uncooked dry pasta, use a piece of deep fried pasta instead.)
- Place the quail egg from Step 2 on top.
- Make the face parts ready.
- I used a nori punch this time!
- If you don't have a nori punch, cut the parts out with scissors.
- Use mayonnaise as glue to stick on the nori features, and it's done.
- A quail egg cut in half used in the center is cute too.
- Here's how it looks in a bento.
