Honey Wheat Germ Bread Recipe
- 2 env. yeast
- 1 c. very hot water
- 2 c. buttermilk
- 1/2 c. butter
- 1/4 c. honey
- 1 tbsp. salt
- 1/2 c. instant potatoes
- 1/2 teaspoon soda
- 1 c. plain wheat germ
- 7-8 c. flour, white
- 1.
- Sprinkle yeast over water.
- 2.
- Heat buttermilk, salt, butter and honey together.
- Stir in potato flakes.
- Combine with yeast.
- 3.
- Stir in soda, wheat germ and 3 c. flour.
- Add in rest of flour.
- 4.
- Knead.
- Place in greased bowl.
- Let raise till double, 1 to 1 1/2 hrs.
- 5.
- Punch down, let rest 10 min.
- 6.
- Shape into 2 loaves (large).
- Place in pans and let arise.
- 7.
- Bake at 375 degrees for 45 min.
