Good Batter (For Vegetables & Meats) Recipe
- 1/2 c. flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1/2 c. yellow cornmeal
- 1/2 teaspoon baking pwdr
- 1/2 c. ice water
- 1/2 teaspoon onion salt
- 1 tbsp. vegetable oil
- 1.
- Sift flour, cornmeal, salt, onion salt and baking pwdr.
- 2.
- Combine with egg, water and oil.
- 3.
- Beat gently.
- 4.
- Use sufficient of the water as needed to make the batter as thick as cake batter.
- 5.
- Dip vegetable slices in batter, then into warm oil.
- 6.
- Fry till brown, turn once, brown.
- 7.
- Drain on paper towels.
- 8.
- If using for fish, omit onion salt and add in 1/2 tsp.
- Old Bay seafood seasoning.
