- 3 slices Whole Grain Sandwich Bread
- 1 teaspoon Canola Oil, For Browning
- 1/2 pounds Loose Pork Breakfast Sausage
- 1 pinch Salt
- 1 dash Worcestershire Sauce
- 4 whole Eggs
- 1 cup Milk
- 1/4 teaspoons Dried Parsley
- 3/4 cups Shredded Cheddar Cheese
- 1.
- Lightly spray an 8 x 8 baking pan with cooking spray.
- Lay out the bread in a single layer on the bottom of the pan.
- 2.
- Heat the canola oil in a pan over medium high heat.
- Add the sausage, salt and Worcestershire sauce, and completely break up and brown the sausage.
- Take it off the heat and let it cool so that it doesnt cook the eggs when you combine them in the next step.
- 3.
- While the sausage cools, combine the eggs, milk, and parsley in a medium-sized bowl and whisk them together.
- 4.
- Evenly distribute the sausage over the layer of bread in the baking pan.
- Then evenly distribute the cheddar cheese over the sausage.
- 5.
- Pour the egg mixture into the pan to surround everything.
- Cover the pan with a sheet of plastic wrap or foil and let the casserole sit overnight in the refrigerator.
- The bread will absorb some of the egg mixture and all of the flavors will meld.
- 6.
- In the morning, preheat the oven to 350 F. Uncover the casserole and bake it for about 35-40 minutes, until the top is completely bubbly and the eggs have set.
- Remove from oven.
- 7.
- Let it cool for a couple of minutes, then you are ready to serve!
- One quarter of the pan is a nice, generous portion.
