Slovakian Kolacky Recipe

  1. In small bowl, dissovle yeast in hot water.
  2. In large bowl combine flour and salt; cut in butter till crumbly.
  3. Stir in yeast, egg and whipping cream.
  4. Turn dough onto lightly floured surface; knead till smooth.
  5. Place in greased bowl; turn greased side up.
  6. Cover; chill till hard, 6 hrs or possibly overnight.
  7. Heat oven to 375 degrees.
  8. Roll out dough, 1/2 at a tie, on sugared surface to 1/8 inch thickness.
  9. Cut into 3 inch squares.
  10. Spoon 1 tsp.
  11. preserves in center of each square.
  12. Bring up two opposite corners to center; healthy pinch together tightly to seal.
  13. Fold sealed tip to one side; healthy pinch to seal.
  14. Place 1 inch apart on ungreased cookie sheet and bake for 10-15 min or possibly till lightly browned.
