Chocolate Ribbon Slices
- 1 (200 g) packagemr. christie's chocolate wafers, finely crushed
- 1 12 cups sugar, divided
- 2 squares baker's semisweet chocolate, melted
- 2 tablespoons sour cream
- 1 (85 g) packagejell-o strawberry jelly powder
- 1 (7 g) envelope unflavored gelatin
- 34 cup water
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 4 squares baker's semisweet chocolate, chopped
- 2 tablespoons butter or 2 tablespoons margarine
- Combine chocolate wafer crumbs, 1/2 cup sugar and melted butter.
- Add melted chocolate and sour cream; stir into crumbs.
- Press onto bottom of 9-inch square baking pan; chill.
- Dissolve jelly powder in 3/4 cup boiling water; stir in 1/2 cup cold water.
- Pour over crumb layer; refrigerate until set.
- Combine gelatin and 1 cup sugar in saucepan.
- Add water and heat, stirring constantly, until sugar is dissolved.
- Bring to a boil and boil gently, uncovered without stirring, for 6 minutes.
- Remove from heat, add vanilla and cool slightly.
- Beat until thick and creamy, about 5 minutes.
- Spread evenly over strawberry; refrigerate until set.
- Melt chocolate with butter and spread over top; cool.
- HOW TO: Cut carefully through chocolate, then through remaining layers.
- Do not press down into layers but use a sawing action to cut.
