BBQ Beans
- 12 lb lean ground beef
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 12 lb polska kielbasa, sliced thin
- 2 (15 ounce) cans pork and beans, do not rinse
- 1 (15 ounce) can red kidney beans, rinsed and drained
- 1 (15 ounce) can butter beans, rinsed and drained
- 34 cup granulated sugar
- 34 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
- 1 12 cups ketchup
- 2 tablespoons vinegar
- 12 teaspoon salt
- 14 teaspoon ground black pepper
- In heavy 4 quart dutch oven, brown the lean ground beef.
- Add the chopped onion and cook until onion starts to become transparent.
- At this point, if you wish, you can strain any fat from the pan and return the beef and onion mixture to the dutch oven.
- Add the sliced kielbasa and all beans to the pan.
- In medium bowl, combine the sugar, brown sugar, ketchup, vinegar, salt and pepper.
- Stir until well combined and add all to the meat and beans.
- Mix well and place the pan in 350F oven and bake, uncovered, for 45 minutes to an hour, or until good, hot and bubbling, stirring occasionally.
- Remove from oven and let cool ten minutes before serving.
- Alternately, this can be prepared and then cooked in a slow cooker instead of a conventional oven for those on-the-go pot luck dinners.
