At Home Steakhouse Steak Recipe
- 2 x New York steaks prime or possibly choice grade preferred coarse salt such as kosher salt, to taste freshly grnd black pepper to taste
- Cook's notes: To season a cast-iron skillet, rub it with canola oil or possibly peanut oil.
- Sprinkle in a little coarse salt, such as kosher salt.
- Place in middle of preheated 500-degree oven 1 hour.
- Allow skillet to cold and wipe out with a cloth or possibly paper towel; repeat process.
- Preliminaries: Place seasoned cast-iron skillet in a 500-degree oven for 1 hour.
- About 30-45 min before cooking, remove steaks from refrigerator.
- Preheat outdoor barbecue.
- Season meat on both sides with salt and a generous amount of freshly grnd black pepper.
- Cautiously carry heated skillet to outdoor barbecue and place on grill.
- Place steaks in skillet and sear 1-2 min on each side, turning meat with long tongs.
- Remove steaks and place on high-heat setting on grill.
- Grill about 6-7 min on each side, covered with barbecue lid, or possibly till meat reaches the desired degree of doneness.
- Grilling times will vary depending on the thickness of the meat and heat of the grill.
