Vanilla Extract

  1. Slice down the center of each bean pod to expose the seeds.
  2. Place them in one 16 ounce mason jar or split between two 8 ounce mason jars then cover with vodka.
  3. Twist on the lid and shake.
  4. Place in a dark cool place for at least 30 days.
  5. I check on them once a week and give them a shake.
  6. Sometimes I just keep the vanilla pods in the vanilla and just add a ribbon and a tag or I sometimes strain out the the bean pods and pour the extract into a smaller container.
  7. Note: You will also need one 16 ounce or two 8 ounce mason jars with lids and rings.
