Sailor's Stew
- 2 12 cups water
- 1 12 lbs stew meat
- 6 new potatoes
- 2 onions
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 bay leaves
- 6 peppercorns
- 1 clove
- 2 tablespoons parsley
- Bring water to a boil in a large pot.
- Add stew
- meat.
- Boil 4-5 minutes.
- Skim foam from surface until clear.
- Add potatoes, onion, and salt.
- Tie bay leaves, peppercorns and cloves in a small piece of cheesecloth add to pot.
- Cover and cook 1 1/2- 2 hours.
- Potatoes and onions will become very soft and beef tender.
- Remove spice bag.
- Spoon stew into serving bowl.
- Sprinkle with parsley.
