Sailor's Stew

  1. Bring water to a boil in a large pot.
  2. Add stew
  3. meat.
  4. Boil 4-5 minutes.
  5. Skim foam from surface until clear.
  6. Add potatoes, onion, and salt.
  7. Tie bay leaves, peppercorns and cloves in a small piece of cheesecloth add to pot.
  8. Cover and cook 1 1/2- 2 hours.
  9. Potatoes and onions will become very soft and beef tender.
  10. Remove spice bag.
  11. Spoon stew into serving bowl.
  12. Sprinkle with parsley.
