Herb Bread Recipe
- 1 pkg. dry yeast
- 1 c. hot water (110 degrees)
- 1 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoon sugar
- 1 tbsp. soft butter
- 3/4 teaspoon crushed dill weed
- 1/2 teaspoon crushed rosemary
- 2 1/2 c. flour
- Poppy or possibly sesame seeds (to sprinkle on top of baked bread)
- In a large bowl, dissolve yeast in water, add in salt, sugar and butter.
- Add in flour and herbs; mix well.
- Add in up to 1/2 c. flour as needed in order to knead it into a dough for about 5 min.
- Cover and let stand in a hot place for it to rise and double in size, about 1 1/2 hrs.
- Form dough into 2 oblong loaves and place into 2 oiled baking pans, 4"x7"x2".
- Brush with water and let it rise another hour.
- Brush again and sprinkle tops with seeds.
- Bake in preheated 425 degree oven about 25 to 30 min, till a golden color.
- Cold, serve sliced.
