Fried Rice with Bok Choy by dianncy Recipe dianncy64
- 3 cups Cooked, cold rice (day-old is best)
- 1 tablespoon of brown sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon of molasses
- 1 tablespoon of light soy sauce, (I use 2 tablespoons, I add the 2nd little bit at a time then taste and continue until it tastes the way I want it to)
- 2 tablespoons of Sesame oil
- 1 can Sliced water chestnuts
- 1/2 bunch of green onions dices, and or white onion (quarter) diced
- 1/2 red or yellow (never green) bell pepper diced
- Cooked chicken or pork (optional)
- 1 bok choy, shredded
- Pour sesame oil in wok or frying pan, turn on medium high: saute red bell pepper and white onion until brown and or translucent.
- Add rice and soy sauce.
- Mix and (sort of) stir fry.
- Add brown sugar and or molassess.
- Mix thoroughly.
- Add chopped cooked meat (optional) and water chestnuts during last few minutes of heating.
- Add bok choy last, make one last mix and remove from heat.
- Dont want bok choy to go limp.
- Fried rice uses leftover rice, of course, but also makes great use of any leftover vegetables or meats.
- Try adding snow peas or bean sprouts for a really fresh flavor.
