Broccoli Balsamico
- 2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 small garlic clove, finely chopped
- 12 teaspoon gingerroot, freshly grated
- 12 teaspoon salt
- 14 teaspoon pepper
- 12 cup water
- 2 teaspoons extra virgin olive oil
- 5 cups broccoli florets
- In a small bowl, whisk the vinegar, sugar, garlic, ginger, salt and pepper.
- Add the oil and set aside.
- Place the (raw) broccoli in a deep saucepan.
- Pour in 1/2 C water, cover and set over medium-high heat.
- Cook until tips of the florets are tender but the stems are still firm when pierced, about 5 minutes.
- Remove from heat and add the balsamic mixture, pouring it down the side of the pot so it mixes with the cooking water.
- Return the pot to the heat and cook, stirring, until the liquid has almost completely evaporated.
- Serve immediately.
