Common Gingerbread

  1. Combine butter, molasses, brown sugar, and buttermilk in a medium saucepan over low heat.
  2. Heat until butter is melted and remove from heat.
  3. When cool, beat in egg.
  4. In a bowl, combine flour, baking soda, spices and salt; fold into moist ingredients.
  5. Turn into a greased and floured 9-inch cake pan and bake in the middle of a preheated 350 F oven for 30 minutes or until a tester comes out clean.
  6. Cool before serving.
