Shoo Fly Pie
- 1 cup dark molasses
- 1 egg, beaten
- 34 cup boiling water
- 12 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 14 cups flour
- 2 tablespoons shortening
- 12 cup brown sugar
- 1 9" pastry shell
- Dissolve soda in hot water; add molasses and egg.
- Combine sugar and flour and rub in the shortening to make crumbs.
- Pour one-third of the liquid into an unbaked pie crust.
- Add one-third of the crumb mixture.
- Continue alternate layers, putting crumbs on top.
- Bake at 375: for approximately 35 minutes.
