Beer can chicken

  1. Rinse chicken and pat dry.
  2. Remove giblets.
  3. Use rub liberally.
  4. Under and over skin.
  5. Wrap and refrigerate for as little as 1 hour or overnight.
  6. Preheat grill for indirect heat.
  7. 300-350 degrees.
  8. Use or discard 1/2 of beer.
  9. Insert garlic or additional spices or rub in beer can.
  10. Increase size of hole in top of can and mount chicken.
  11. Grill for 60-90 minutes.
  12. Check for internal temp of 175F.
  13. I used a smokebox, but it isn't necessary.
  14. Remove from grill and rest 10-15 mintues before carving and serving.
