Tamale Pie (Meatless) Recipe

  1. Heat butter over medium heat and saute/fry onions and green pepper for 10 min.
  2. Remove from heat and add in beans, tomato sauce, chili pwdr, oregano and cumin.
  3. Set aside.
  4. Combine in bowl cornmeal, sugar, salt and pepper.
  5. Stir in egg, lowfat milk, butter and corn.
  6. Press mix into greased 9 inch pie plate.
  7. Spoon bean mix into pie crust.
  8. Bake 350 degrees 20 min.
  9. Remove from oven and sprinkle with cheese and bake an additional 5 min.
  10. Let stand 5 min before cutting.
