poached figs

  1. combine first 8 ingredients in a saucepan, bring to a boil.
  2. boil for a few minutes to eliminate the alcohol.
  3. cover, reduce heat to simmer, cook for 40 minutes.
  4. sauce should be thick and syrupy.
  5. cool.
  6. remove cloves, cinammon stick, star anise.
  7. spoon into 8 dessert glasses, with syrup, top with whipped cream and almonds.
