Pasta Lover's Creamy Carbonara
- 14 cup butter
- 1 -2 tablespoon finely chopped onion
- 5 ounces prosciutto
- 1 12 pints whipping cream
- 1 egg, well beaten
- 14 teaspoon salt
- 14 teaspoon white pepper, black pepper and red pepper
- 12 teaspoon crushed dried thyme
- 12 teaspoon dried basil
- 1 cup parmesan cheese
- 16 ounces spaghetti
- parsley (to garnish)
- Saute onion in butter until limp.
- Add prosciutto and saute for 3 to 4 minutes longer.
- Add whipping cream and simmer.
- Do not boil.
- Beat egg well and add to cream sauce.
- Continue simmering until you get desired consistency, approximately the same as a thick cream sauce.
- Add seasonings and cheese.
- In the meantime, cook spaghetti al dente in boiling, salted water.
- Drain and add to cream sauce.
- Mix thoroughly.
- Correct seasonings.
- Pour out onto serving plates and top with a little chopped parsley.
- Serve at once.
