Butterscotch Squares

  1. Combine sugar and butter in saucepan.
  2. Heat slowly stirring constantly until butter is melted and mixture is blended.
  3. Remove from heat, add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  4. Add dry ingredients,.
  5. Add vanilla, raisins and nuts.
  6. Blend thoroughly.
  7. Spread in 13x9x2-inch pan.
  8. Bake a 350F for 20-25 minutes.
  9. The quicker these squares are in the oven after the mixture is taken off the stove, the lighter the texture.
  10. I like them best to put a fine nut on top of icing rather than in squares.
