Butterscotch Squares
- 2 cups brown sugar
- 12 cup butter (it needs to be butter)
- 2 eggs
- 1 12 cups flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- salt
- vanilla
- 12 cup seedless raisin
- 12 cup chopped walnuts
- Combine sugar and butter in saucepan.
- Heat slowly stirring constantly until butter is melted and mixture is blended.
- Remove from heat, add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
- Add dry ingredients,.
- Add vanilla, raisins and nuts.
- Blend thoroughly.
- Spread in 13x9x2-inch pan.
- Bake a 350F for 20-25 minutes.
- The quicker these squares are in the oven after the mixture is taken off the stove, the lighter the texture.
- I like them best to put a fine nut on top of icing rather than in squares.
