Healthy Meatless Okara Tofu Hamburgers

  1. Finely chop the carrot and onion.
  2. Place the onion on a heatproof dish, cover with plastic wrap and microwave for 2 minutes at 600 W. Rehydrate the hijiki seaweed by soaking it in water.
  3. Combine the tofu and okara powder, and mix well.
  4. Add the ingredients to the Step 2 bowl, and mix well with your hands.
  5. Form the mixture into 7 cm diameter patties.
  6. You can vary the size and shape to your preference.
  7. Put a little vegetable oil (not listed) in a frying pan and heat.
  8. Put in the Step 4 patties, and cook over medium heat until browned.
  9. Turn the patties over, lower the heat a little and cover with a lid.
  10. Steam-cook until cooked through.
  11. Transfer to serving plates.
  12. Make the sauce.
  13. Put the * ingredients in a pan and bring to a boil.
  14. Add the combined ingredients and mix rapidly to thicken the sauce.
  15. When the sauce is no longer floury, take it off the heat, pour over the burgers and serve.
