Tortillas And Sopapillas Recipe
- 1 3/4 c. flour
- 2 teaspoon baking pwdr
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 tbsp. butter flavor Crisco
- 2/3 c. cool water (approx.)
- Mix flour, baking pwdr, salt and Crisco into coarse meal.
- Add in water and work into a dough.
- If too sticky, add in more flour, if too dry, add in very small amounts of water.
- Knead dough for 5 min.
- Let it stand in covered bowl for 10 min.
- For Tortillas: Separate dough in balls (about 1 inch Diameter).
- Dip into flour and then roll out into 8 inch to 9 inch circles.
- Cook in 350 degrees skillet for approx.
- 1 minute per side.
- Serve hot.
- For Sopailpillas: Roll dough out to no thinner than 1/2 inch.
- Using sharp knife, cut into triangle shapes.
- Deep fry at 375 degrees till both sides are golden and puffed.
- Serve warm with honey and butter.
