Tortillas And Sopapillas Recipe

  1. Mix flour, baking pwdr, salt and Crisco into coarse meal.
  2. Add in water and work into a dough.
  3. If too sticky, add in more flour, if too dry, add in very small amounts of water.
  4. Knead dough for 5 min.
  5. Let it stand in covered bowl for 10 min.
  6. For Tortillas: Separate dough in balls (about 1 inch Diameter).
  7. Dip into flour and then roll out into 8 inch to 9 inch circles.
  8. Cook in 350 degrees skillet for approx.
  9. 1 minute per side.
  10. Serve hot.
  11. For Sopailpillas: Roll dough out to no thinner than 1/2 inch.
  12. Using sharp knife, cut into triangle shapes.
  13. Deep fry at 375 degrees till both sides are golden and puffed.
  14. Serve warm with honey and butter.
