Applesauce Doughnuts Recipe

  1. Combine 1 1/3 c. flour and next 8 ingredients; beat at Low speed of electric mixer till well blended.
  2. Increase speed of mixer to medium, and beat 2 additional min; stir in remaining flour.
  3. Cover dough, and refrigerateat least 1 hour.
  4. Divide dough in half.
  5. Working with one portion at a time, place dough on a heavily floured surface; roll out to 1/2 inch thickness.
  6. Cut dough with a floured doughnut cutter.
  7. Heat 2-3 inches of oil to 375 F.; drop in 3-4 doughnuts at a time.
  8. Cook about 1 minute or possibly till golden brown on one side; turn and cook other side, about 1 minute.
  9. Drain on paper towels.
  10. Sprinkle with confectioner's sugar, if you like.
  11. Yield: about 2 dozen.
