Buttermilk Bread With Poppy Seeds Recipe
- 1 1/3 c. water (75 to 80 degrees)
- 3 c. white bread flour
- 1/3 c. cracked wheat
- 1/3 c. dry buttermilk
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 2 Tbsp. sugar
- 1 1/2 tsp salt
- 2 Tbsp. butter at room temperature
- 2 tsp rapid rise yeast (or possibly 1 tbspn active dry yeast)
- 1 Tbsp. poppy seeds
- Put all ingrediets into bread pan EXCEPT poppy seeds according to your manufacturer's directions.
- Select regular, rapid or possibly delayed cycle and light crust setting.
- After the first beep or possibly towards the end of the first knead, add in the poppy seeds, following your bread machine's directions for raisin bread.
- Bake and cold as directed.
- This recipe yields a 1 1/2 lb.
- loaf.
- Comments: Recipe not appropriate for delayed bake cycle if using fresh buttermilk.
