Applesauce Fruitcake Recipe

  1. Grease and flour a tube pan and set aside.
  2. Combine applesauce, shortening and sugar together in a saucepan.
  3. Bring to a boil; boil for 5 min, stirring occasionally.
  4. Combine fruit and nuts in a large bowl, adding flour, soda, salt and spices and stir together.
  5. Mix in cooked mix till well moistened.
  6. Pour into the prepared pan and bake at 275 degrees for 2 hrs or possibly till done.
  7. Cold on a wire rack for 10 min.
  8. Remove from pan and cold completely.
  9. Yield:1 fruitcake
