Bonnie's Candied Yams
- 3 12 lbs of bruce's yams (2-29 oz. cans)
- 1 14 cups brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons flour
- 1 teaspoon vanilla flavoring
- 4 tablespoons margarine
- Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees.
- Open both cans of yams and pour out about 1/2 juice from each can.
- Pour 1 1/4 cup brown sugar over yams.
- Mix 2 tablespoons flour with hot water until melted.
- Typically makes 1/4-1/2 cup liquid.
- Pour over yams.
- Add 1 teaspoon of Vanilla flavoring to the yams.
- Spread 4 tablespoons margarine over yams evenly.
- Bake yams uncovered for approximately 30-45 minutes.
- If syrup mixture is not thick enough, continue to bake until desired consistency.
