- Soften the butter in the microwave until it has a mayonnaise-like consistency (if straight out of the refrigerator, microwave at 300 W for 40 - 45 seconds).
- Add the sugar and mix well.
- Preheat the oven to 180C (356 Fahrenheit).
- Beat the egg and gradually add it to the bowl while stirring the rest of the ingredients.
- If the egg is cold, it will separate from the butter, so make sure to bring it to room temperature first.
- Grate half of the apple and cut the other half into 5 mm pieces.
- You could also cut it into 1 cm cubes.
- Mix the grated apple into Step 4.
- Combine the flour and baking powder and sift.
- Use a rubber spatula to gently mix into the batter.
- Add the chunks of apple.
- Pour the batter into the cake mold, smooth the surface, and bake for 45 minutes at 180C.
- Once an inserted skewer comes out cleanly, remove the cake by the parchment paper and cool on a cooling rack.
- When it has cooled, tightly wrap it in plastic wrap and let it sit for one day.
- It tastes better the next day so try to restrain yourself.
- Wait at least half a day.
- If you can't wait a day, you can enjoy it hot and fresh from the oven.
- It will taste just like apple pie.
