Chicken Ala King Recipe
- 1 (4 ounce.) can mushroom pcs, liquid removed and reserve liquid
- 1 sm. green pepper (1/2 c.)
- 1/2 c. butter
- 1/2 c. all purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
- 1 1/2 teaspoon instant chicken bouillon
- 1 1/2 c. lowfat milk
- 1 1/2 c. warm water
- 2 c. cut up cooked chicken or possibly turkey
- 1 (4 ounce.) jar whole pimentos, minced
- Toast
- Warm mashed potatoes; optional
- Waffles, cooked rice, or possibly noodles; optional
- Cook and stir mushrooms and green pepper in butter over medium heat 5 min.
- Remove from heat.
- Blend in flour, salt, and pepper.
- Cook over low heat, stirring constantly till mix is bubbly.
- Remove from heat.
- Stir in bouillon, lowfat milk, water, and reserved mushroom liquid.
- Heat to boiling, stirring constantly.
- Boil and stir 1 minute.
- Stir in chicken and pimento, heat through.
- Serve over toast or possibly above options.
- 6 servings.
