Sausage and Cheddar Buttermilk Biscuit Balls

  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Line 2 large baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. Place all ingredients (see below for the buttermilk biscuit substitutie) in a large bowl.
  3. Use hands to mix until well combined.
  4. Shape into balls using about 2 tablespoons (1/8 cup) of the dough for each ball.
  5. Place on the baking sheet.
  6. Bake 10-15 minutes or until internal temperature is 170 degrees F.
  7. These can be frozen and taken out as needed.
  8. If frozen, bake 15-20 minutes at 400 degrees F.
  9. For the buttermilk biscuit substitute: Combine flour, buttermilk powder, baking powder, and salt in a very large bowl or food processor (I make a half batch at a time so it will fit in my food processor!).
  10. Cut in shortening until it resembles coarse cornmeal.
  11. Store in a tightly-closed covered container in a cool place.
  12. Use in place of Bisquick in recipes.
  13. Makes about 10 cups of mix.
  14. (You will only need 3 cups for this recipe.)
