Beef Onion Bake Recipe
- 2 tbsp. butter
- 2 tbsp. flour
- 1 c. water
- 1/4 c. dry sherry
- 2 teaspoon beef bouillon granules or possibly 2 bouillon cubes
- 1/4 teaspoon Kitchen Bouquet or possibly Maggi
- 1 pound stew beef, cubed
- 2 med. onions, thickly sliced
- 1/4 c. Parmesan cheese
- 1/2 c. shredded Swiss, Monterey Jack or possibly Mozzarella cheese
- Brown flour in butter.
- Add in water, wine, bouillon and Maggi or possibly Kitchen Bouquet.
- Cook till thickened.
- Remove from heat.
- Cold slightly.
- In greased casserole dish, layer all the onions.
- Top with beef cubes and pour cooked mix over all.
- Bake covered at 375 degrees for 1 1/2 - 2 hrs.
- Sprinkle with cheese combination.
- Bake about 10 min longer.
- Serve with crusty French bread.
- Serves 4-6.
