Mattie's Jam Cake
- 2 12 cups brown sugar
- 2 cups sour milk
- 4 cups flour
- 34 cup butter
- 2 cups jam
- 2 teaspoons baking soda
- 3 teaspoons cinnamon
- 2 teaspoons cloves
- 2 teaspoons nutmeg
- 3 eggs
- 15 ounces raisins
- 1 cup nutmeats
- dried fig (optional)
- dates (optional)
- Mix all ingredients together well except jam.
- Lastly, gently stir in the 2c jam.
- Pour into greased and floured 9" round cake pans.
- Bake in 325 degree oven for 35-40 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
- If desired, serve caramel icing.
