Chocolate Cherries Recipe
- 1 (8 ounce.) jar maraschino cherries with stems, liquid removed
- 3/4 c. cherry or possibly orange flavored liqueur
- 6 (1 ounce.) squares semisweet chocolate
- Place cherries and liqueur in a medium bowl.
- Cover and let stand overnight.
- Drain well, reserving the liqueur for another use, if desired.
- Place cherries on paper towels and let stand at least 1 hour till dry.
- Heat chocolate in a small, heavy saucepan, stirring frequently over very low heat (or possibly heat in microwave oven at low power setting).
- Remove from heat.
- Place waxed paper on a baking sheet.
- Holding cherries by the stem, dip each into the chocolate to cover.
- Place on the waxed paper.
- Let stand in a cold, dry place, or possibly refrigeratetill chocolate is hard.
- Makes about 28 cherries.
