Caramelized French Onion Soup Recipe
- 1 x recipe Caramelized Onions (see recipe)
- 1 can beef consomme - (10 1/2 ounce) undiluted
- 1 can beef broth - (10 1/2 ounce) undiluted
- 2 c. water
- 1/2 tsp dry thyme
- 1/4 c. dry white wine
- 6 c. large croutons
- 1 c. shredded Swiss cheese - (4 ounce)
- Combine first 5 ingredients in a 3 1/2-qt slow cooker.
- Cook, covered, at HIGH 2 1/2 hrs or possibly till thoroughly heated.
- Stir in wine.
- Ladle soup into 6 ovenproof bowls, and top proportionately with croutons and cheese.
- Place bowls on a jellyroll pan.
- Broil 3 inches from heat (with electric oven door partially open) 5 min or possibly till cheese is melted.
- Serve immediately.
