Caramelized French Onion Soup Recipe

  1. Combine first 5 ingredients in a 3 1/2-qt slow cooker.
  2. Cook, covered, at HIGH 2 1/2 hrs or possibly till thoroughly heated.
  3. Stir in wine.
  4. Ladle soup into 6 ovenproof bowls, and top proportionately with croutons and cheese.
  5. Place bowls on a jellyroll pan.
  6. Broil 3 inches from heat (with electric oven door partially open) 5 min or possibly till cheese is melted.
  7. Serve immediately.
