New Year's Black Eyed Peas
- 1 lb dried black-eyed peas
- 1 lb salt pork or 1 lb ham hock
- 1 medium onion
- pepper (Season to taste)
- Soak peas overnight.
- Cut up onion and place it along with all other ingredients in a crockpot with water filled to just 1 inch below top.
- Cook until peas are tender.
- Add water if needed during cooking.
- Serve with warm bread or crackers.
