Maple Pecan Teacakes

  1. Heat oven to 350F.
  2. Combine 1 cup butter and sugar in bowl; beat at medium speed until creamy.
  3. Add egg yolk and maple flavoring; continue beating until well mixed.
  4. Beat at low speed, gradually adding flour and pecans until mixture forms dough and is no longer crumbly.
  5. Shape dough into 1-inch balls.
  6. Place 1 inch apart onto ungreased cookie sheets.
  7. Bake 9-11 minutes or until cookies puff and start to turn light golden brown.
  8. (Cookies may crack.)
  9. Cool 1 minute on cookie sheets; remove to cooling rack.
  10. Cool completely.
  11. Melt 1/4 cup butter in 1-quart heavy saucepan over medium heat.
  12. Continue cooking, stirring constantly and watching closely, 3-5 minutes or until butter just starts to turn golden.
  13. Immediately remove from heat.
  14. Cool 3 minutes.
  15. Add all remaining frosting ingredients; beat with whisk, adding enough half & half for desired consistency.
  16. Dip tops of cooled cookies into frosting; sprinkle with chopped pecans, if desired.
