Hijiki Seaweed and Okra Salad

  1. Slice the onion thinly and put into a bowl of ice water for about 10 minutes.
  2. Drain in a colander or sieve.
  3. Scrub the okra on a cutting board with salt, and boil briefly.
  4. Boil the hijiki seaweed briefly and drain in a colander or sieve.
  5. Put the onion, hijiki seaweed, sliced okra rounds and bonito flakes in a bowl.
  6. Mix together roughly, add the mayonnaise and soy sauce and mix again.
  7. Taste and adjust the seasoning as needed.
