Mackerel Simmered in Sweet Miso
- 4 Mackerel fillet
- 50 ml Water
- 100 ml Cooking sake
- 1 tbsp Soft brown sugar
- 1/2 tbsp Ginger (grated)
- 2 tbsp Miso
- 1 tbsp Mirin
- Tip 1: Boil water in a pot and put the mackerel.
- Turn the heat off immediately and drain in a colander.
- Tip 2: Heat a pot with water, sake, sugar and ginger over high heat.
- Add the mackerel.
- Turn down the heat to medium, cover with a lid and simmer for 5 minutes.
- Tip 3: Add miso and mirin and cover with a lid.
- Simmer for 10 minutes on medium heat.
- Turn up the heat a little higher.
- Remove the lid and keep simmering.
