Apple Oatbran Scones Recipe
- 3 c. All-purpose flour
- 1/2 c. Sugar
- 2 Tbsp. Baking pwdr
- 2 tsp Cinnamon
- 1 c. Margarine
- 2 c. Oatbran
- 2 x Golden brown Delicious apples, grated with skin
- 2/3 c. Currants
- 3/4 c. 2 % lowfat milk
- 4 x Egg whites
- In a large mixing bowl, mix together flour, sugar, baking pwdr and cinnamon.
- Use two knives to cut margarine into a dry mix till crumbly.
- Stir in oatbran, grated apple, and currants.
- In a measuring c., whisk together 4 egg whites with lowfat milk.
- Mix egg mix into oatbran mix till moistened.
- Grease large cookie sheet and spread dough so which it is approximately 1 inch thick, 9 inches wide and 15 inches long.
- Score the dough into at least 18 squares.
- Bake at 375 deg F for 25-30 min.
- Best served hot with jam.
