Coffee-Rubbed Kansas City Strip Steak

  1. For rub, in a small bowl combine sugar, coffee and garlic.
  2. Lightly brush steaks with olive oil; sprinkle with salt and pepper.
  3. Season steaks evenly with the rub.
  4. Let stand at room temp.
  5. For 30 minutes.
  6. Preheat grill to medium heat for direct cooking.
  7. Grill steaks to desired doneness, turning once.
  8. Allow 10 to 12 minutes for medium rare or 12 to 15 minutes for medium.
  9. Let steaks rest for 3 to 5 minutes so juices redistribute evenly throughout the steak
