James A. Beard's Chilled Irish Coffee

  1. Combine coffee, cream and sugar, stir to dissolve the sugar, and chill thoroughly.
  2. Put 1 tablespoon of whipped cream in a 14-ounce highball glass, fill with the coffee mixture, add ice cubes and whiskey.
  3. Top with the remaining tablespoon of whipped cream and dust with grated nutmeg or ground cinnamon.
